This cycling adventure is unique on its own! Guarded by armed rangers, you drive through the most famous wildlife reserve in the world: the Kruger National Parc in South Africa. It is here where ‘the Big Five’ of Africa live and there is a realistic change you will get into close (eye)contact with these magnificent animals. In addition the cycling tour takes you into the Misty Mountains, one of the most spectacular mountainous areas in the world. Finally you will have the opportunity to enjoy great wines and to get familiar with this unique region of South Africa.

DAY TO DAY PROGRAM

DAY 1
IInternational flight to Johannesburg (SA)

DAY 2 (B-D)
Upon arrival in Johannesburg a bus transfer will bring you via Dullstroom to the lodging site, close to Phalaborwa Gate, Kruger National Park. There will be ample time to prepare the bikes and enjoy dinner in the surroundings showing a beautiful sunset!

DAY 3 (B-D)
Following an early breakfast, the South Africa Kruger Challenge starts at the Phalaworba Gate of Kruger National Park. It’s rough terrain, taking you over soft sandy as well as rocky roads and through the Mopani woods. The 20 km tour crosses the Tsutsi River and Sable Dam, both within Kruger National Park, and lasts just about 4 hours. Back in the lodge there is ample opportunity to enjoy a refreshing dive in the pool. Afternoon allows for a visit to the Amarulka production plant, where they make the national drink, in taste strongly reminding you of Baileys!

DAY 4 (B-D)
This day starts with a walk through the bush. Guarded by an armed ranger you receive all kinds of information about life in the bush and how to recognize signs and traces of all sorts of animals. The afternoon brings you the second stage of the Kruger Challenge and in the evening a Game Drive is next on the schedule, finally followed by a barbecue.

DAY 5 (B-D)
An early departure (around 07.00 h) brings us cycling and animal spotting! We leave Kruger National Park and will enjoy lunch at Satara, after which the cycling tour takes us through the magnificent landscape to Graskop. If time allows, we will stop on the way at Drie Rondawels to enjoy the gorgeous scenery. We stay overnight at Graskop.

DAY 6 (B-L-D)
Today we drive our bikes to Pilgrim’s Rest, where we will make a short walk through this tiny historical village. We continue along unpaved roads to Bourke’s Luck Potholes, where there is amazing geology to be enjoyed. Lunch is served in the famous Harry’s Pancake House, followed by a cycling tour in the direction of our today’s lodging address in Graskop.

DAY 7 (B-L-D)
Following breakfast we drive 30 km over climbing and descending roads and will stop for lunch in Sabie. We continue our today’s cycling tour via Long Tom Pass to our lodging address in Misty Mountain.

DAY 8 (B-L-D)
Misty Mountain – a paradise for nature lovers! – is an enormous South African Wilf Life Park situated along the spectacular Long Tom Pass. At an altitude of 1.700 m above sea level in an area, free of malaria, Misty Mountain is located in a mountainous landscape with majestic scenery looking out over the sloping hills of Laagveld. We take our bikes through the Sabie tree plantations and after lunch we drive over the Long Tom Pass back to our lodging adress in Misty Mountain.

DAY 9 (B-L)
Unfortunately, today a bus transfer will take us to Johannesburg for our flight back to the Netherlands.

DAY 10
Return flight to the Netherlands.

Here you will receive detailed information on background, program and various apects about this trip. Also you will have ample opportunity to ask questions and gather additional documentation.

FIT Adventure Sports Travels offers you the opportunity to turn your endurance sport into an adventure. We organise sports travels in areas of natural beauty, almost untouched by (mass) tourism and in doing so, offer you the unknown and unexpected. You will experience basic outdoor living in foreign countries, combined with local standards of modern life circumstances. We closely work together with local people and create employment.  Thus avoiding, that people leave the country side for a life in the city and doing so, preventing that old traditions and cultures get lost.
